To help boost the energy efficiency of homes the Federal Government is offering up to $1600 per home to help homeowners install ceiling insulation and up to $1000 for rental properties. The Energy Efficient Homes Package targets homes that are currently not insulated and is subject to eligibility criteria such as the house must have been built prior to 2003 and the owner cannot have claimed the solar energy rebate

The  Federal Government program started on July 1st 2009 and will run for 2 years.

Landlords can also access the $1000 rebate for multiple rental properties provided each property is someone's primary residence.

The insulation must be installed by a Government registered business operator.
